BWO Ghana

Our projects

Banko Women Organization (BWO) empowers women in Ghana through education and employment, offering vocational training, entrepreneurship skills, and a safe space for dialogue. Our Learning Center, created in response to the women of Banko expressing a strong desire for a space dedicated to learning and career development, offers courses like sewing and hairdressing. Additionally, BWO Hostel supports students with jobs and showcases their handmade products.

Historically, many women had limited opportunities for higher education, often following their mothers’ paths. Today, challenges like poverty, lack of parental support, illness, or unintended pregnancy still persist. BWO provides employment and training to help women lead independent lives, make informed decisions, and overcome financial barriers, ensuring our work reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.

Creating jobs

BWO Hostel

BWO Hostel offers more than just accommodation; it creates job opportunities for women. Staff contribute to a shared mission of empowerment and personal development, gaining valuable skills while building connections. Guests enjoy a welcoming space and the opportunity to engage as they wish. By staying at the hostel, you help support the growth of a community dedicated to empowering women and creating lasting change.

Vocational training

BWO Learning center

At the BWO Learning Center, women gain practical skills in areas such as sewing and hairdressing.

Our vocational training programs equip students with the tools to become self-sufficient and confident in their abilities. The center fosters continuous learning and personal growth, providing a space for women to develop new skills and open doors to future opportunities.

Supporting women beyond skills

Extra classes & Community building

Our extra classes are designed to support both students and staff through personal development and community building.
These classes help individuals grow their skills and knowledge while fostering a sense of collaboration.
They provide a space for continuous learning and connection, strengthening the bond within our community.

Expanding opportunities for women

What’s next

Looking ahead, we envision creating a business hub for women in our community.
While we work towards this goal, we’re starting with impactful projects like an ICT center, a soap factory, and female tour guide training. These initiatives will empower women with new skills, create job opportunities, and lay the foundation for sustainable growth and economic independence.
