BWO Ghana
Our projectsBanko Women Organization (BWO) empowers women in Ghana through education and employment, offering vocational training, entrepreneurship skills, and a safe space for dialogue. Our Learning Center, created in response to the women of Banko expressing a strong desire for a space dedicated to learning and career development, offers courses like sewing and hairdressing. Additionally, BWO Hostel supports students with jobs and showcases their handmade products.
Historically, many women had limited opportunities for higher education, often following their mothers’ paths. Today, challenges like poverty, lack of parental support, illness, or unintended pregnancy still persist. BWO provides employment and training to help women lead independent lives, make informed decisions, and overcome financial barriers, ensuring our work reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.
Creating jobs
BWO Hostel
BWO Hostel offers travelers a warm and cozy stay, while providing direct work experience for women from the community. Our team gains valuable hospitality skills, and we also organize local tours through the Ashanti region.
With your stay or tour, you directly support our mission and self-reliance in Banko.
Sustainable enterprise
BWO Soap Factory
Our brand-new soap factory combines local employment with a unique social model.
We produce liquid soap, fabric softener, floor cleaner, and shower gel in affordable pocket-sized packaging for the region. All profits from these sales flow directly back to the foundation to fund healthy, daily meals for our students.
Vocational training
BWO Learning Center
In our Learning Center, students follow practical vocational training to build an independent income. We offer an intensive sewing program at both Basic and Advanced levels, alongside a creative hairdressing course tailored to the local market. Together with entrepreneurship classes, we lay the perfect foundation for a bright future.
